Authors must fill in the article publication data properly. If the rules below are not complied with, the article will not proceed for evaluation.

On the PUBLICATION tab:

  • In TITLE AND ABSTRACT:
    • Ensure that the title entered is the same as the title in the article;
    • Write the title with only the first letter in uppercase and the rest in lowercase. Except in acronyms and proper names;
    • Ensure that the inserted abstract is the same as the article;
    • TO SAVE.
  • In CONTRIBUTORS:
    • Ensure that the order of authors is the same as the article;
    • For each author:
      • Inform the full name in the same way as the CV Lattes. (do not use capital letters);
      • In FIRST NAME include all the names, except the last name;
      • In LAST NAME include only the last name. If there is “de” or “da” before the last name, include it in NAME. If there is a family surname such as Neto, Júnior, Filho, then include it in the SURNAME;
      • Do not fill in “How do you prefer to be treated?”;
      • In CONTACT enter the email. If there is a permanent academic bond, preferably inform the institutional email;
      • In COUNTRY insert the country of origin;
      • In COMPLEMENTARY DATA insert the
        • in URL enter http://… from lattes
      • in INSTITUTION, insert the name of the institution in full, without abbreviations or departments. For example: Federal University of Mato Grosso;
      • in SUMMARY OF BIOGRAPHY insert ONLY your last title and current institutional link by writing two sentences. Finalize including (City - UF, Country). Do not include acronyms or dates. For example:
        • Master in Civil Engineering from the University of São Paulo. PhD student in Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Bahia (Salvador - BA, Brazil).
        • PhD in Architecture. Technology and City from the State University of Campinas. Assistant Professor at the Federal University of Mato Grosso (Cuiabá - MT, Brazil).
        • Studying Architecture and Urbanism at the University of São Paulo (São Paulo - SP, Brazil).
        • Finish with SAVE.
  • In METADATA:
    • Insert the keywords of the article;
    • Enter each one separately;
    • Insert in the same order as they appear in the article;
    • Capitalize only the first letter;
    • Finish with SAVE.
  • In REFERENCES:
    • Copy the article references;
    • Do not number the references;
    • Sort in alphabetical order by the last name of the first author of each reference.

Remembering that, for the article to be published, it is required that one of the authors is registered as an author in the event.

 

Structuring the text for scientific:

The scientific text should be structured according to the items: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussions, Conclusions, Acknowledgments, References. The Acknowledgments item is optional.

All items must be formatted in bold, with all letters in capitals, with spacing before and after 12 pt.

Subitems may be added to the text, in italic format and only the first letter in capitals, with spacing before 12 pt and then with 6 pt. All items must be lined up as justified and without a paragraph.

Structuring the text for review:

The scientific text should be structured according to the items: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, items and sub-items to be addressed, Final Considerations, Acknowledgments, References. The Final Considerations and Acknowledgments items are optional. All items must be formatted in bold, with all letters capitalized. Subitems may be added to the text, in italic format and only the first letter in capital letters. All items must be left aligned and without paragraph.

 

Basic Formatting:

  • Word format file;
  • A4 sheet;
  • 2.5 cm margins (right, left, top and bottom);
  • 0 spacing between lines;
  • Paragraph of 1.0 cm;
  • Justified text and in a column;
  • Font: Times New Roman, size 12;
  • Pagination lower than right;
  • All lines must be numbered;

 

Description of Items:

Title: Centralized, size 14. Only the first letter of each word must be presented in capital letters, the authors' name below the title being mandatory, together with the updated training and e-mail. Present the title in English and Portuguese version.

Abstract and Resumo: Justified, Size 10. It involves a brief presentation of the theme according to the type of manuscript, and should briefly cover the research theme, objectives, criteria and statistical methods, main results and conclusions / recommendations. Minimum of 150 and maximum of 250 words. Authors should not be cited.

Keywords and Palavras-chave: A minimum of three and a maximum of six keywords / palavras-chave may be presented, but they cannot be contained in the title. Only the first letter of each word must be capitalized.

Introduction: It should contain a brief presentation of the theme, highlighting the concepts / definitions, importance / justification of the study, as well as aspects related to protocols, techniques and procedures, emphasizing the originality and novelties of the research for the sector covered. The last paragraph should present the research objectives.

Material and Methods: Describe all aspects related to planning, implantation, conduction, execution, data collection and statistical criteria during the experiment. The maximum amount of information and details must be presented so that the experiment can meet the principle of repeatability.

Results: Detailed presentation of all the results of the research, using visual aids such as tables, graphs and / or figures.

Discussions: The theoretical foundation of the principles involved that influenced the observed results must be presented. Emphasize the advances that research can provide in relation to the sector researched. It must be based on a theoretical framework of the last 10 years (except the classic references and of considerable importance for the research area).

Conclusions: They must be clear, objective and short. The conclusions should answer only the tested hypotheses, without describing the influencing factors for a given answer or any type of additional explanation.

Acknowledgments: Optional. The important sources that contributed to the research must be presented.

References: Cite all bibliographical references contained in the text. Authors should preferentially, but not exclusively, cite bibliographical references from the last 10 years, aiming to meet the principle of advances in scientific knowledge in the lines of research.

 

Tables:

The title of the tables must be written in lower case (use Times New Roman font size 10) and positioned above the body of the table, with only the first letter of the first word having a capital letter. Tables must be inserted in the body of the text and must be self-explanatory. Footnotes can be included as needed. Use Times New Roman font size 10. Identify the tables in chronological order according to the calls in the text (Ex .: Table 1, Table 2). 

 

Figures:

The title of the figures must use Times New Roman font, size 10, centered and positioned above the body of the figure, and only the first letter of the first word must be capitalized. All figures must present adequate resolution to guarantee the quality of the information. Figures must be sent in jpg or tif formats. Identify the figures in chronological order according to the calls in the text (Ex.: Figure 1, Figure 2). Colored figures will be accepted for online publication, however in case of printing, only the pigments in the black, gray and white range will be used.

 

Citations and bibliographic references:

All citations of articles, books, theses and dissertations in the text of the manuscript must comply with the following formats:

  • Simple quote in the text: Bento (2010)
  • Simple quote in parentheses: (Metcalf & Eddy 2012) or (Di Bernardo 2012; Campos 2013)
  • Citation with two authors in the text: Reali and Campos (2012)
  • Citation with two authors in parentheses: (Reali and Campos, 2012)
  • Citation with more than two authors in the text: Campos et al. (2013)
  • Citation with more than two authors in parentheses: (Campos et al. 2013)
  • The chronological order of publication of scientific papers must be obeyed during the authors' citation, both in the text and in parentheses (from oldest to most recent).
  • The citation in the apud format will not be accepted, and the authors should consult the original references, thereby avoiding the possible dissemination of incorrect information.
  • Bibliographic references must meet the minimum limit of 60% of citations of scientific articles.
  • Monograph, simple abstract, expanded abstracts, complete abstracts, technical bulletins, documents, reports, newspaper texts, magazine reports, opinions and other similar documents will not be accepted as bibliographic references.
  • The citations that were not considered, follow the ABNT norms.

Measurement units and abbreviations:

Adopt the International System (SI) of measures.

Equations and formulas:

They must be edited using software compatible with the text editing program. All components of the equations and formulas must be described in detail, including the respective units of measurement.

Species name:

Present the updated scientific name with the descriptors. The scientific name must be in italics and only the first letter of the genus must be capitalized.

  • Initially before being forwarded to the reviewers, the identification of plagiarism will be observed at any stage of the manuscript's processing, which will result in automatic rejection, making it impossible for the authors to request reconsideration.
  • The veracity of the information and the technical-scientific character will be the responsibility of the authors. Therefore, the journal is not responsible for any type of legal process that may be attributed to published manuscripts.
  • The journal is not responsible for the disclosure of brands and commercial products that may eventually be cited in the text, and does not characterize any type of recommendation by the Editorial Board and other editors and reviewers responsible for the journal.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • Manuscripts published by the journal in any modality (Scientific Article or Review) must be original and must not be published by any other means of scientific dissemination.
  • Before submitting to E&S, authors must complete the document containing the supplementary information (access here).
  • The file submitted for evaluation should not contain the authors' names, as the review is conducted using a double-blind peer review system.
  • The text may have a maximum of 25 pages.
  • ES Engineering and Science magazine offers free immediate access to its content. In addition, it does not charge fees for article submissions and publications, following the principle that it makes scientific knowledge freely available to the public and provides worldwide democratization of knowledge.
  • Manuscript submission is done through the electronic system. Therefore, all authors must register on the platform (necessary for the time of publication) and only one author must submit the article.
  • The text must be scientific, identified as: Scientific Article or Review.
  • The article formatting template must be in accordance with the template file and Microsoft Word format, otherwise it may be rejected.
  • Maximum six authors for each manuscript. However, with a well-founded justification, the Editorial Board considers the participation of more authors. For example, the multidisciplinarity criterion of the work team.
  • Authors must agree to all Engineering and Science policies, including the Author Responsibility Statement, Copyright Statement, and Privacy Policy.

The names and addresses given in this journal will be used exclusively for the services provided for publications. Furthermore, the journal has a Creative Commons By 4.0 license, so for external use of data, the article, authors and ES Engineering and Science journal must be cited.
