Abstract

This article aims to identify and denounce, in the light of psychoanalysis, what we denominate as narcisistic pact of cisgenderity. Just as Maria Aparecida Bento elaborates the concept of a narcissistic pact in relation to the racial dynamics of whiteness, we intend to elaborate it in relation to the dynamics of cisgenderity. With the psychoanalytic theory as the theoretical basis, we seek to argue that cisgenderity operates according to defense mechanisms that guarantee stability and subjective security to cisgenderity, promoting, on the other hand, the precariousness of trans subjectivities and existences. To this end, the article is divides into three parts. Initially, we turn to the definition of the concepts of narcissistic pact, perversion and Otherness in psychoanalytic theory, in order to understand how the process of naming the Other operates from colonial alliances and contracts. Then, we look specifically at the concept of the narcissistic covenant of cisgenderity, analyzing the performance of such alliances between cisgender people and their impact on the lives of trans and gender-dissident people. Finally, we investigate the perverse mechanisms of cisgenderity in analogy to the ego defense mechanisms exposed by Grada Kilomba when dealing with whiteness. The theoretical contribution of the article aims to comprehend of cisgenderity as a perverse structure within the psychoanalytic framework. As a result, it is understood that the narsicistic pact of cisgenerity is shown as the perverse maintenance of universalisms and social and institutional relations of power.
