Abstract

This article analyzes spatial dynamics and regional issues in the state of Mato Grosso, with an emphasis on the perception of locality and the sense of belonging among residents of the districts of Santo Antônio do Caramujo (Caceres) and Adrianopolis (Vale de Sao Domingos). The research seeks to understand the impacts of regionalization policies, especially since the implementation of the MT +20 Regional Development Plan, and their repercussions on the daily lives of these communities. The study was developed in three methodological stages: literature review and secondary data collection, fieldwork with direct observation and interviews with local social actors, and integrated data analysis. The results reveal that, in Caramujo, despite a consolidated economic base, the absence of essential services and political-administrative autonomy reinforces the feeling of abandonment and the desire for emancipation. In Adrianopolis, recent urban growth has been observed, but it is still heavily dependent on the municipal headquarters and neighboring cities for access to basic services. In both cases, contradictions between regional planning guidelines and local realities have been identified, highlighting that the sense of belonging and territorial experience are shaped by socioeconomic, structural, and identity factors. The study reinforces the importance of regional policies that are sensitive to local specificities and built on listening to the communities involved.
