Abstract

The challenges of Basic Education in Brazil include, among several other aspects, the selection of content and didactic-pedagogical resources to achieve learning objectives. However, concepts such as Geodiversity, which are essential for understanding the physical-natural processes of planet Earth, are not present in the National Common Curricular Base. Bacaba Municipal Park, located in the municipality of Nova Xavantina, Mato Grosso, serves as a fieldwork site for local and regional schools to address biodiversity. However, the geosites have not been identified and characterized for inclusion in these activities. In this sense, the aim of this article is to propose the direct application of geodiversity content in Basic Education through field activities in the Conservation Unit to enhance learning through Geoeducation and greater integration between practice and theory. The methodology employed was bibliographic research and field surveys using an observation form and the Ultra GPS Logger App to georeference points and subsequently create a map of the geosites' locations. Eight geosites were identified, considering the relevance of the geodiversity elements of the Conservation Unit in terms of geological, geomorphological, pedological aspects and the National Common Curricular Base. Subsequently, the attributes of geodiversity and the learning objectives for each geosite in the Conservation Unit were outlined. Geodiversity is a concept that relates to Geography education and has broad potential to mobilize knowledge, stimulate investigation, and foster geographical reasoning.
